Dongguan Adds New Major Projects: Robots, Drones, and More to Drive High-Quality Development

July 2, 2025 – Dongguan has announced the second batch of major projects for 2025, highlighting a new wave of high-tech and infrastructure investment designed to accelerate the city’s transformation. The updated plan includes 17 new projects: seven as major construction projects and ten as key reserve projects. These initiatives span cutting-edge robotics, unmanned aerial vehicles, modern industrial parks, and green energy, injecting fresh momentum into Dongguan’s push for high-quality growth.

Among the standout additions is the Guangdong Qunxin Robotics and Intelligent Equipment Project. With a total investment of 200 million RMB, the facility will break ground in September. Covering over 14 acres, the project will focus on the research and production of soft robots, humanoid robots, rehabilitation robots, and exoskeleton robots. Once operational, it is expected to produce 20,000 dexterous robotic hands annually, supporting Dongguan’s ambition to become a hub for advanced intelligent manufacturing.

Another major construction project is the Zhaoke Intelligent Technology Headquarters. This 200-million-RMB investment will begin construction in December and will specialize in the development and manufacturing of precision metal structural parts, drones, autonomous vehicle components, and other high-tech products. The plant will have an annual production capacity of 1.25 million precision drone components, 800,000 electric vehicle motor shafts, and 400,000 semiconductor valve parts, with estimated annual revenues reaching 600 million RMB.

In the renewable energy sector, Laike Electronics Technology (Dongguan) Co., Ltd. is expanding production. Its new facility, occupying about 14 acres, will focus on manufacturing solar inverters and energy storage systems. Construction is scheduled to start in September.

Dongguan’s modern industrial parks are also seeing upgrades. The Phase I project of the Shuixiang Hexi Modern Industrial Park Industrial Community will invest nearly 300 million RMB to build approximately 1,246 rental apartments for workers. This development will improve living conditions and make the park more attractive to talent and enterprises alike.

Among the ten new major reserve projects, the Jinghongsheng Greater Bay Area Production Project in Dongkeng Town stands out. With an estimated investment of 300 million RMB and a site area exceeding 30 acres, it will develop high-performance cables for microwave communications, solar photovoltaics, and high-speed data transmission. This project is expected to add new momentum to Dongguan’s next-generation information technology industry.

Green manufacturing is also getting a boost. The Dongguan Yinzhou Environmental Packaging Co., Ltd. Smart Paper Products Production Project (Phase II) will invest nearly 500 million RMB in expanding its production of eco-friendly paperboards and cartons. The facility will have an annual output capacity of 300,000 tons of paperboard and 150,000 tons of cartons, supporting Dongguan’s efforts to build a circular, low-carbon economy.

Officials emphasized that Dongguan will continue dynamically adding more major projects and offer “green channel” policy support to high-quality investments. A dedicated project management system—“One List”—will ensure that land, energy, and other resources are allocated efficiently. By providing full-cycle services, Dongguan aims to create an enabling environment for industries to thrive.

With this latest round of projects, Dongguan is reinforcing its status as a powerhouse in advanced manufacturing and innovation, further strengthening its capacity to lead the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
